Walking in wild places
As a child, I loved to walk barefoot in the dirt, carefully examining small things like the march of ants and the structure of seedpods. This sense of wonder has been an ongoing guidepost throughout my life.
For me, experiencing and making art are like walking in wild places, looking and listening with intentional curiosity. My artwork is inspired by the elegant balance between randomness and order in the colors, textures, and forms found in nature.

How I build collages
As a former designer and illustrator, I love the way collage melds my appreciation for books and other print material with my interest in traditional printmaking. Remnants found in library book sales and thrift shops are deconstructed and combined with handprinted papers and my own photographs to create abstract compositions.
Building these designs can be a sort of mapmaking with multiple entry points. And while I often discover unexpected through lines and interplay amongst the elements, foundational design principals are always guiding my work.
